The following rules apply to all members and their guests at all times. All rules shall be enforced by the staff of Shawnee Swim Club. The Designated Pool Manager has the authority to immediately suspend all pool privileges for up to one day for violation of any pool rule. Longer suspensions may be imposed by the Pool Manager or by the Board of Directors.

  • Members are responsible for the behavior of their guests. No guests may be present at the pool unless the member who is the host is also present. Any costs due to damage to pool property by a member or his/her guest will be the responsibility of the member. This includes the times when the pool is rented for private pool parties as well as during SSC-sponsored pool parties.
  • Membership in Shawnee Swim Club is a privilege. ALL staff, members, and guests will show civil behavior toward each other at all times. The lifeguards on duty have the authority to close any section or any activity in the pool if overcrowding is a problem or if groups or individuals involved cannot cooperate in sharing the space available.
  • No one may use the pool unless an authorized lifeguard is present and on duty. All members, families, and guests will respect the lifeguards, managers and staff and follow their directions.
  • Children: Federal and state guidelines indicate that children under the age of 12 years old need adult supervision. Thus, no child under 12 years old is allowed to be unaccompanied at the pool. All unaccompanied children MUST pass ALL area swim tests while the guardian or parent is present PRIOR to any unaccompanied use of the facility (see testing requirements listed below). This independent use is a privilege that will be modified or disallowed if abused in any way. If you have a child between 12 and 18 that will be using the pool on their own, you must complete an emergency contact information form. This form can be picked up, filled out, and left at the front desk. Please also review proper courtesies and rules with your adolescents. Following lifeguard instructions allow all members/guests to enjoy the pool. Please remind your children that failure to follow the rules can result in temporary dismissal from the pool.
  • The front gate of the pool is NOT regulated other than for admission of guests and visitors. Lifeguards and managers cannot be responsible for managing the entrance and exit activities of children, teens, or adults during pool hours.
  • If you would like explanation or more detailed information about any of the rules or regulations of the pool, please see the manager on duty in the guardhouse for assistance.
The lifeguards will blow their whistles if lightning or other threatening weather is cited. ALL swimmers are required to leave the water immediately. The concrete decks that surround the pools must also be cleared quickly. SSC abides by the ARC recommendation that 30 minutes shall pass before re-entry to decks and pool. All members and visitors who desire to stay in the pool area during an evacuation period must move to the pavilion, the grassy areas or the covered portion of the entrance to the pool.
  • Observe and follow all posted rules in the pool area.
  • Do not talk with a lifeguard who is on duty; direct your questions to the manager or lifeguard at the front desk.
  • No running on deck.
  • No pushing on deck or into the pool.
  • No dunking.
  • No inflatable armbands in any water area of the facility. Certified and properly fitting floatation devices may be permitted at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
